Care Home in Seaton

Welcome to The Seaton

The Seaton care home is an elegant Georgian building which is just a stone’s throw from the pedestrianised town centre and seafront of this genteel East Devon town.

The home provides a high standard of general nursing, dementia and residential care, including respite and rehabilitation, both for older people and younger adults with debilitating conditions.

Food is important to us at The Seaton, and we pride ourselves on our menus, with wholesome and appetising dishes lovingly prepared by our resident chef.

So much to do

We like everyone living with us to have the chance to look and feel good – and so we have regular visits from a hairdresser, aromatherapist and chiropodist.

There is always plenty going on – from craft activities, music and baking to regular outings – either to take in the sea air or to venture further afield in the Southern Healthcare minibus.

We are very pleased to have been awarded the Silver Level in our recent revalidation of the Eden Alternative.

This was achieved through interviews with a selection of team members, residents and relatives, surveys, audits and photo-based evidence

In their summary, the validators said: “There was lots of evidence showing positive practice and that Eden had made a change to the way in which care is provided. Many of the staff talked passionately about working at The Seaton, and there seemed a good connection between the various staff groups who were interviewed.

It is acknowledged that the past two years have been significantly impacted by COVID and therefore any engagement has been severely restricted because of this. Eden principles seem to have been generally embraced throughout the home. The registered manager told us that she embraced and encouraged Eden philosophy. Many of the staff and residents described The Seaton as being like ‘one big family’, where there was a lot of focus on building relationships with people. Overall, The Seaton has started to embed the principles of Eden into its day-to-day culture and has plans in place for this to continue and improve.”

At the heart of the community

We take immense pride in being an essential part of life in the close-knit community of Seaton.

Families and friends of current and former residents play a key role in this – and we encourage them to think of the Seaton as being a home from home.

We aim to play a full role in the life of the community – and we respect our neighbours.

One example of this is Bonfire Night where we have a quiet celebration rather than a firework display. This is to protect residents who may still be traumatized from their time serving their county in the armed forces. We are also mindful of the local cats and dogs who may be upset by the bangs and flashes.

But we always look forward to welcoming people in  – whether this is to enjoy a vintage afternoon tea, or a Christmas fair.
