Sefton Hall, Dawlish
Sefton Hall is an impressive Georgian building with an interesting history of serving the local community over the years. It is only a few hundred yards from Dawlish town centre and the famous seafront.
Sefton Hall is a residential, dementia care and nursing home, providing support for a variety of individual needs and specialist conditions, including short stays for respite, holiday and post-operative care.
Sefton Hall has the atmosphere of an elegant hotel, with many of the rooms being exceptionally light and airy with full height windows, overlooking the grounds. There are three spacious lounges and a large dining room, together with a suite of rooms that are especially for our Cedar dementia community.
Sefton Hall has recently achieved an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This is a fantastic achievement, currently held by approximately less than 60 Nursing Homes throughout the UK. The purpose of the CQC is to make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and they encourage care services to improve. We received some lovely comments in the report, including: “People told us they were happy living at the Home”, “people told us that staff were kind and caring”, “we heard lots of laughter and affection between staff and people throughout the inspection”.
Sefton Hall holds the Butterfly Kitemark National Award from Dementia Care Matters. The Butterfly Model is based on how ‘feelings matter most’ in dementia care. We are very proud of this award and the team has worked very hard to achieve this. We received some excellent comments from the audit including “Warm, loving relationships between staff and people who live here”, and “several staff are ‘stars’ – an abundance of energy, passion and patience in their work here”.
Sefton Hall also holds the Certificate of Recognition from the Eden Alternative UK & Ireland, which recognises that the residents and the team at Sefton Hall are well established on the Eden Alternative journey and have fulfilled the requirements for inclusion in the Eden Alternative philosophy, developing strategies to address potential problems of loneliness, helplessness and boredom.
Sefton Hall was shortlisted as finalists for the Caring UK Awards 2017 in the following categories: Care Team of the Year and Dementia Care Team of the Year. The awards celebrate excellence throughout the care industry and recognise team efforts across the UK and we are looking forward to finding out the results of the awards on Friday 8th December 2017.
